تمہاری اطلاع کے لیے عرض ہے۔ کل شام تم ایک لڑکی سے نکاح کرنے کی جرات کر چکے ہو اور وہ لڑکی کل شام کو ہی رخصت ہو کر گھر بھی آچکی تھی۔ کل سے تم اس کو اس طرح نظرانداز کر رہے ہو جیسے وہ تمہارے لیے کوئی حیثیت نہیں رکھتی۔ “بات کرتے ہوئے دادی کا سانس پھولا تو وہ رکی تھیں۔ اسفندیار اپنے غصے کی آخری حد کو برداشت کرتے ہوئے بولا۔
” جب آپ کو معلوم ہے کہ آپ کے اندر اتنی ہمت نہیں ہے کہ آپ اتنی لمبی بات کر سکیں تو مہربانی کر کے وہ بات کریں جو مجھے نہیں معلوم۔ وہ ساری باتیں جو آپ ہمارے گوش وگزار کر چکی ہیں، میں ان باتوں کو جانتا ہوں۔ “
اسفندیار کی بات مکمل ہوئی تو دادی دوبارہ سے اسی لہجے میں بولی۔
” تو سنو مستر اسفندیار۔ تمہارے چاچو چچی آرہے ہیں ان کے لیے شکورے کی دوکان سے قیمے والے نان اور کوفتے لے آنا۔ ہو سکے تو پھل بھی لے آنا۔ اور آم لانا مت بھولنا ویسے تو سیب بھی بہت مفید ہے چلو دو چار درجن کیلوں کے ساتھ تین کلو سیب لے آنا۔( اس دادی نے ٹھنڈی سانس لی اور دوبارہ سے وہیں سے سلسلہ کلام جوڑا تھا اور بولی) وقت کم ہے ورنہ عدیلہ گوشت پکا لیتی۔ چلو تم ایسا کرنا رشیدے کی دوکان سے حلوہ پوری بھی لے آنا۔ یہ شہر والے صبح کو اسی کا ناشتہ کرتے ہیں۔ “
اور دادی کا سانس دوبارہ سے پھول گیا۔ اسفندیار کا دل چاہ رہا تھا وہ ہاتھ میں پکڑا موبائل دیوار پر دے مارے یا موبائل فون کی جگہ اپنا سر ہی دیوار پر مار ڈالے لیکن اس کے اندر کا شیطان اسے اس بات پر اکسا رہا تھا کہ وہ اپنا سر دیوار پر دے مارنے کی بجائے خود کو ٹرک کے نیچے دے دے۔ اسفندیار نے کال بند کی اور ایک نظر دور بیٹھے چھوٹے کی طرف دیکھا جو حیران سا اس کی جانب دیکھ رہا تھا۔ اسفندیار نے اسے غصے سے گھورا تو وہ جلدی سے اپنے سامنے رکھی بائیک پر کپڑا مارنے لگا۔ اسفندیار نے ہمدردی سے سر جھٹکا اور یہ ہمدردی اسے خود سے ہی تھی۔“۔
