زریاب اس دو دن کی بچی کو لے کر اپنی نانی کے گاؤں پہنچا۔ جہاں انہوں نے کرائے پر گھر لے لیا تھا۔ وہ کچی پگڈنڈی پر احتیاط سے چلتا ہوا اپنے گھر تک پہنچا۔ اور اس سے پہلے کہ وہ اندر داخل ہوتا۔ کھلے دروازے سے حمید باہر نکلا تھا۔ تو زریاب ٹھٹھک کر رکا تھا۔ حمید باہر نکلا تو زریاب بھی تھوڑا پیچھے ہٹا اور دونوں دروازے سے کچھ دور آ گئے۔
” یہ کیا ہے ؟ “
حمید نے اکھڑے ہوئے لہجے میں درشتی سے پوچھا۔
” میری بیٹی ہے یہ ، ابا ۔ “
زریاب نے نہایت نرمی سے جواب دیا تو حمید کا دماغ گھوم گیا۔ وہ آنکھیں پھاڑے زریاب کو دیکھ رہا تھا۔
” کیا بکواس ہے یہ ؟ کہاں سے لے آیا تو یہ بچی ؟ کس کی بچی ہے یہ ۔ سیدھا جواب دے مجھے ۔ “
حمید غضبناک ہوا تھا۔ مگر زریاب اس بچی کی طرف دیکھ رہا تھا۔
” بلکل سیدھی بات کہہ رہا ہوں ابا۔ یہ میری بیٹی ہے۔۔اور یہ اب میرے پاس ہی رہے گی۔ اور جہاں تک لانے کی بات ہے۔تو اسے ہسپتال سے لایا ہوں میں سب سے چھپا کر۔”
زریاب نے ساری بات بتا دی ۔ تو حمید کی آنکھوں میں غصے کی ایک لہر دوڑی تھی۔
” تیرا دماغ تو نہیں خراب ہو گیا۔ چوری چھپا کر لایا ہے تو اسے ؟ میں کہتا ہوں ابھی دفع ہو جا اور جہاں سے لایا ہے اسے وہیں چھوڑ کر آ۔ ہمارا اس سے کوئی واسطہ نہیں .”
حمید نے تحکم بھرے انداز میں کہا۔ وہ شدید غصے میں دکھائی دے رہا تھا۔
” نہیں ابا۔ میں اپنی بیٹی کو کہیں نہیں چھوڑ کر آؤں گا۔ اور آپ کو میں یہ بات یاد کروا دیتا ہوں کہ جب میں نے آپ کی مرضی سے دوسری شادی کی تھی تو میں نے آپ سے کہا تھا کہ آپ کو ایک بات اور ماننی ہوگی میری جب وقت آئے گا۔ تو اب وہ وقت آ گیا ہے۔ آپ کو میری یہی بات ماننی ہے۔۔میری بیٹی کو قبول کرنا ہے۔ “
حمید کے سارے جواز ختم ہو گئے۔ وہ یک ٹک زریاب کو دیکھ رہا تھا۔
” اچھا چل میں مان بھی جاتا ہوں تو یہ بات راز میں رکھنی ہوگی۔ پھر سب کو اس کے بارے میں کیا بتائےگا۔ کہ کون ہے یہ ؟ “
” میں اسے اپنی دوست کی بیٹی کے طور پر متعارف کراؤں گا۔ جس کا باپ پہلے ہی فوت ہو گیا تھا۔ اور اب اس کو جنم دیتے ہوئے اس کی ماں کی بھی وفات ہو گئی۔ سب کو یہی بتانا ہے۔ “
حمید خاموشی سے اس کی بات سن رہا تھا۔ اس نے اس وقت خاموشی سے اسے قبول کرنے میں بہتری سمجھی۔ مگر آگے چل کر بھی وہ خاموش ہی رہے گا اس کا نہ تو زریاب کو یقین تھا اور نہ خود حمید کو۔ ۔ ۔
