رات کے سناٹے میں، پورا گھر خاموشی کے سمندر میں ڈوبا ہوا تھا۔ وہ لڑکی اپنے کمرے میں بیٹھی تھی، ایک کتاب کھولے، لیکن اس کی نظریں الفاظ کے بجائے دیوار پر جمی ہوئی تھیں۔ ذہن مسلسل ان سخت جملوں کی بازگشت سن رہا تھا جو لڑکے نے چند گھنٹے پہلے کہے تھے۔
“تمہیں یہ سب کرنے کی ضرورت نہیں۔”
“کبھی کبھی ضرورت نہیں، دل کی بات ہوتی ہے۔”
اس نے خود سے دھیرے سے کہا، جیسے اپنی بات کا جواب خود دے رہی ہو۔
اسی وقت، دروازے پر ہلکی سی دستک ہوئی۔ وہ چونک کر دروازے کی طرف دیکھنے لگی۔
“آ جاؤ!” اس نے پکارا، لیکن جواب میں خاموشی تھی۔
کچھ لمحوں بعد، وہ دروازے کے پاس گئی اور آہستہ سے اسے کھولا۔ باہر کوئی نہیں تھا، لیکن زمین پر ایک کاغذ کا ٹکڑا پڑا تھا۔ اس نے اسے اٹھایا اور غور سے دیکھا۔ یہ ایک مختصر سا نوٹ تھا:
“یہ جذبات کا کھیل ہے، اور میں اس میں جیتنے نہیں، بلکہ اپنے زخم چھپانے آیا ہوں۔”
اس کے ہاتھ کانپنے لگے۔ وہ سمجھ گئی تھی کہ یہ نوٹ اسی کا ہو سکتا ہے۔ لیکن یہ کیوں؟ وہ اتنا سخت دل کیوں دکھانے کی کوشش کر رہا تھا؟
اسی دوران، دوسری طرف وہ لڑکا اپنے کمرے میں بیٹھا تھا۔ کمرے میں گھڑی کی ٹک ٹک کے علاوہ کوئی آواز نہیں تھی۔ لیکن اس کا ذہن شور مچا رہا تھا۔ اس نے خود کو سمجھانے کی کوشش کی:
“یہ لڑکی… یہ میری کمزوری بن سکتی ہے، اور میں اپنی کمزوریوں کو کبھی اپنے قریب نہیں آنے دیتا۔”
لیکن دل اور دماغ کی جنگ جاری تھی۔ اس نے اسی لمحے ایک فیصلہ کیا۔ وہ اٹھا، کمرے کی کھڑکی کے پاس جا کر باہر دیکھنے لگا۔ باہر گہری رات تھی، اور بارش اب بھی زمین کو نم کر رہی تھی۔
