خودکشی کے بارے میں اسلامی تعلیمات کا خلاصہ یہ ہے کہ یہ فعل حرام ہے۔ اِس کا مرتکب اللہ تعالیٰ کا نافرمان اور جہنمی ہے۔ قرآن و حدیث کے دلائل پر بحث سے قبل آئیے دیکھتے ہیں کہ اسلام نے اسے اتنا بڑا جرم کیوں قرار دیا۔ درحقیقت انسان کا اپنا جسم اور زندگی اس کی ذاتی ملکیت اور کسبی نہیں بلکہ اﷲ کی عطا کردہ امانت ہیں۔ زندگی اللہ تعالیٰ کی ایسی عظیم نعمت ہے جو بقیہ تمام نعمتوں کے لیے اساس کی حیثیت رکھتی ہے۔

اسی لیے اسلام نے جسم و جاں کے تحفظ کا حکم دیتے ہوئے تمام افرادِ معاشرہ کو اس امر کا پابند کیا ہے کہ وہ بہرصورت زندگی کی حفاظت کریں۔ اسلام نے ان اسباب اور موانعات کے تدارک پر مبنی تعلیمات بھی اسی لیے دی ہیں تاکہ انسانی زندگی پوری حفاظت و توانائی کے ساتھ کارخانہِ قدرت کے لیے کار آمد رہے۔ یہی وجہ ہے اسلام نے خودکشی (suicide) کو حرام قرار دیا ہے۔ اسلام کسی انسان کو خود اپنی جان تلف کرنے کی ہرگزاجازت نہیں دیتا۔

 2۔ قرآن و حدیث میں خودکشی کی ممانعت جیسا کہ اوپر بیان ہوچکا ہے کہ زندگی اور موت کا مالکِ حقیقی اﷲ تعالیٰ ہے۔ جس طرح کسی دوسرے شخص کو موت کے گھاٹ اتارنا پوری انسانیت کو قتل کرنے کے مترادف قرار دیا گیا ہے، اُسی طرح اپنی زندگی کو ختم کرنا یا اسے بلاوجہ تلف کرنا بھی اﷲ تعالیٰ کے ہاں ناپسندیدہ فعل ہے۔
