”کیا ہمارا تعلق اتنا پر اعتماد نہیں کہ تم کھل کر مجھ سے کچھ بھی کہہ سکو؟“ انہوں نے سخت لہجے میں کہا تو وہ ہڑبڑا کر نفی میں سر ہلا گیا۔
”پھر بتاؤ کہ کیا بات ہے۔ میں وہی معین ہوں جس سے تم دونوں کوئی بھی بات شئیر کر لیا کرتے تھے۔“ لہجہ ایک بار پھر ہمیشہ کی طرح شیریں ہو گیا تھا۔ حسام کو جیسے یہ ہی سننا تھا۔ اس نے رخ موڑ کر ان کے چہرے کو دیکھا‘ جہاں اس نے ہمیشہ شفقت ہی دیکھی تھی۔ شفقت، محبت، دوستی، مان۔ کونسا ایسا رشتہ تھا جو اس نے ان کی صورت نہیں پایا تھا۔ وہ دلکش مسکرایا۔ کمر یک دم سیدھی ہوئی تھی۔ اعتماد ایک بار پھر بہال ہوا تھا۔ اسے یوں دیکھ معین کی پریشانی کچھ کم ہوئی تھی۔
”کچھ پوچھوں گا تو سچ سچ جواب دیں گے؟“ وہ جیسے تصدیق چاہتا تھا۔
”پہلے کبھی جھوٹ بولا؟“ انہوں نے جواباً ایک اور سوال داغا تھا۔ وہ مزید مسکرایا۔
”ڈانٹیں گے بھی نہیں؟ ذہن میں ایک اور سوال اُبھرا تھا۔
”پہلے کبھی ڈانٹا؟“ وہ مسکراتے پوچھ رہے تھے۔
اس کی مسکراہٹ گہری سے گہری ہوتی گئی۔ پھر اس نے نگاہیں ان کے چہرے سے ہٹا کر سامنے جما لیں۔
”بہار۔ اس کے فیصلے بارے میں آپ کیا سوچتے ہیں؟“ وہ حد درجہ سنجیدہ تھا۔ الفاظ حلق سے بہ مشکل برآمد ہوئی تھے۔
”کیا مطلب کیا سوچتا ہوں؟ اس میں سوچنے جیسا کچھ نہیں۔ تمہارے باپ نے تمہاری زمہ داری مجھے دی تھی۔ تم امانت ہو۔ اور میں امانت میں خیانت نہیں کر سکتا۔“ ان کی مسکراہٹ یک دم سمٹی تھی۔ نگاہیں اس کے چہرے سے ہٹا لی تھیں۔ نقوش یکلخت ہی تن گئے تھے۔ دماغ کی نسیں پھول کر واضح ہوئی تھیں۔
