“کیا ہوا ہے وجی؟ خیریت تو ہے؟” سرمد نے پوچھا تو وجدان نے سر اٹھا کر اسے دیکھا۔ اس کی آنکھیں سُرخ ہو رہی تھیں۔
“وجی؟ تم ٹھیک ہو؟” سرمد اس کی آنکھیں دیکھ کر یکدم پریشان ہو گیا۔
“مجھے ایسا محسوس ہو رہا ہے جیسے میں نے آج اسے ایک بار پھر کھو دیا ہے۔” اس کے لہجے میں کچھ کھو جانے کا خوف تھا۔ سرمد نے سوالیہ نظروں سے اُسے دیکھا۔
“کسے کھو دیا ہے؟کس کی بات کر رہے ہو؟” سرمد نے پوچھا تو اس نے اپنی آنکھیں بند کر کے ایک بار پھر اپنا سر تھام لیا۔
“مجھے لگا میں اسے پا لوں گا۔۔جیسے وہ میرے بہت قریب ہے۔ لیکن میں نے اپنی غلطی کی وجہ سے اسے پھر کھو دیا۔” وجدان نے نم لہجے میں کہا تو سرمد نے اس کے کندھے پر ہاتھ رکھ کر اسے سیدھا کیا۔
“کیا ہوا ہے؟ کس کو کھو دیا ہے تم نے؟ بتاؤ؟”
“دعا سکندر۔۔” اس نے یک لفظی جواب دیا۔
“دعا سکندر؟ یہ کون ہے؟کہیں تمہیں محبت تو نہیں ہو گئی؟” سرمد نے محتاط لہجے میں پوچھا تو وہ طنزیہ ہنسا۔
“محبت؟؟ کیا طوائفوں کی اولاد کو محبت کرنے کی اجازت ہوتی ہے؟ نہیں سرمد! ہم جیسوں کو محبت ہو جائے تو قتل کر دیا جاتا ہے۔۔میں کبھی کسی سے محبت نہیں کر سکتا۔میرے ہاتھ۔۔میرے پیر۔۔میرا پورا جسم ان دیکھی زنجیروں میں جکڑا ہوا ہے۔اور قیدی کسی سے کیا محبت کرئے گا۔” ناجانے کیوں اس کے لہجے کے ساتھ ساتھ آنکھیں بھی نم ہونے لگی تھیں۔ سرمد کی آنکھوں میں کئی سوال نے جنم لیا۔
“طوائفوں کی اولاد؟” سرمد کا ذہن انہی تین حروف پر اٹک گیا تھا۔
