حیا چوہدری کا ناول “ایتھن” اردو ادب میں ایک ایسی تازہ ہوا کا جھونکا ہے جو انسانی نفسیات، روحانی کرب اور سکون کی ابدی تلاش پر مبنی ہے۔ یہ کہانی محض الفاظ کا مجموعہ نہیں بلکہ ایک ایسی روح کی پکار ہے جو دنیاوی جاہ و حلال، دولت کی ریل پیل اور خاندانی نام و نمود کے بیچ گھٹن کا شکار ہے۔
ناول کا مرکزی کردار “ایتھن” اپنی ذات کے اس سفر پر ہے جہاں اسے یہ فیصلہ کرنا ہے کہ کیا وہ معاشرے کے بنائے ہوئے معیارِ زندگی پر جیے گا یا اپنے اندر اٹھنے والے اس طوفان کو راستہ دے گا جو اسے خالقِ حقیقی کی پہچان کی طرف بلا رہا ہے۔

اچانک کھڑکی پر بارش کی بوندیں گِرتی محسوس ہوئی تھیں ۔ بیڈ پر لیٹے ایتھن نے گردن کو حرکت دیتے کھڑکی کی طرف دیکھا تھا ۔باہر بارش ہوتے دیکھ کر اس کے وجود میں مزید بےزاری ہونے لگی تھی ۔
ہاتھ پر لگی ڈرپ کوکھینچ کر اُتار چکا تھا ، خون کی ایک لکیر ہاتھ سے نکلی تھی ،مزید ایک منٹ وہ اس بیڈ پر نہیں لیٹ سکتا تھا ۔اس کمرے میں اُسے اپنی سانس روکتی محسوس ہو رہی تھی ، ہمت کرتے اُس نے بیڈ سے اُٹھنے کی کوشش کی تھی،
پاؤں ٹھنڈی زمین پر رکھتے ہی اِسے زور دار چکر آیا تھا ، بے بسی سے وہ وہیں روک گیا ، قدم آگے بڑھنے سے انکاری تھے ، وہ واپس بیڈ پر گر چکا تھا ۔ بیڈ پر گِرتے ہی اُسے شدت سے سردی کا احساس ہونے لگا تھا ۔
نا چاہتے ہوۓ بھی ٹانگیں سیدھی کرتے بلینکٹ خود پر لے لیا ،کھڑکی پر گِرتی بارش کی بوندوں کی آواز سے اُلجھن ہونے پر سر کے نیچے سے تکیہ نکال کر ایتھن اپنے منہ پر رکھ چُکا تھا ،
اس وقت صرف آنکھوں کو اندھا اور کانوں کو بہرا کر لینا چاہتا تھا ۔ کسی بھی طرح بس بارش کے شور سے بچنا چاہتا تھا۔
