باہر پولیس کی آمدورفت بڑھ چکی تھی۔ واش روم کے داخلی راستے پر اہلکار موجود تھے اور چند ہی لمحوں میں دروازے بند کر دیے گئے تھے۔ کسی کو اندر یا باہر جانے کی اجازت نہیں تھی۔
وہ وہیں پھنس گیا تھا۔اسے بس انتظار کرنا تھا۔
حالانکہ ایک راستہ اب بھی موجود تھا۔
وہ چاہتا تو باہر نکل کر پولیس کو سب کچھ بتا سکتا تھا۔ بتا سکتا تھا کہ وہ وہاں کیوں آیا تھا، اس نے کیا دیکھا تھا، اوروه نوجوان بے قصور تھا۔مگر اس کے لیے سچ بولنے کا مطلب صرف ایک واقعہ بیان کرنا نہیں تھا۔اس کا مطلب اپنی بقا، اپنی شناخت اور شاید اپنی آزادی کو خود پولیس کے حوالے کرنا تھا۔
اس نے آنکھیں بند کر لیں اور خاموشی سے سچ پر اپنی بقا کو چن لیا۔
کم از کم اس لمحے تک۔
دوسری طرف، واش روم کے باہر تھوڑا دور وہ نوجوان ایک کرسی پر بالکل اطمینان سے بیٹھا تھا۔
ایک اہلکار نے اس کا بیگ اپنے سامنے رکھا اور اسے کھول کر دیکھنے لگا۔
“What’s in the bag?”(بیگ میں کیا ہے؟)
نوجوان نے بےفکری سے جواب دیا：
“Nothing particularly interesting. A few personal things.”
(کوئی خاص دلچسپ چیز نہیں۔ بس چند ذاتی سامان ہیں۔)
اہلکار نے ایک ایک چیز نکال کر دیکھی۔
وه خاموشی سے اسے دیکھتا رہا۔نہ اس کے چہرے پر گھبراہٹ تھی، نہ بےچینی۔صرف ایک عجیب سا سکون۔
اہلکار نے بیگ دوبارہ اس کی طرف بڑھایا۔
