بیسمنٹ کی لیب مکمل خاموشی میں ڈوبی ہوئی تھی۔صرف مشینوں کی مدھم آوازیں اور کمپیوٹرز کی سبز روشنیاں اندھیرے میں عجیب سا خوف پیدا کر رہی تھیں۔ہوا میں نمی اور پرانے وائرز کی جلتی ہوئی بو گھلی ہوئی تھی۔
کمرے کے آخری حصے میں ایک سایہ کمپیوٹر کے سامنے جھکا بیٹھا تھا۔
اس کا چہرہ اسکرین کی سبز روشنی میں آدھا روشن اور آدھا تاریکی میں گم تھا۔اس کی نظریں سکرین پر جمی ہوئی تھیں۔ایسا لگ رہا تھا جیسے وہ کسی ایسی چیز کو دیکھ رہا ہو، جس کا وجود شاید ناممکن تھا۔
اچانک اس کی آنکھیں حیرت سے پھیل گئیں۔اس کے چہرے پر بےیقینی صاف نظر آنے لگی۔وہ تیزی سے کی بورڈ پر انگلیاں چلانے لگا۔ کبھی سکرین کو دیکھتا،ںکبھی سامنے پڑی فائلز کو۔
جیسے وہ خود کو یقین دلانے کی کوشش کر رہا ہو کہ جو اس نے دیکھا ہے، وہ حقیقت ہے۔
اس نے بےچینی سے ایک بٹن پریس کیا۔
چند لمحوں کے لیے پوری سکرین تاریک ہوئی۔ پھر آہستہ آہستہ سسٹمز دوبارہ کھلنے لگا۔
ایک کے بعد ایک کوڈز، نیورل پیٹرنز،
اور عجیب سمبلز سکرین پر ابھرنے لگے۔
اس شخص کی سانسیں تیز ہونے لگیں۔
اس کی آنکھوں میں اب بےیقینی کی جگہ یقین اتر رہا تھا۔
ایسا یقین، جو خطرناک تھا۔ کمرے کی خاموشی اچانک ایک زور دار قہقہے سے ٹوٹ گئی۔وہ بری طرح ہنس پڑا۔
اس کی ہنسی بیسمنٹ کی دیواروں سے ٹکرا کر واپس گونجنے لگی۔
پھر اس نے سکرین کو گھورتے ہوئے دھیمی مگر خوفناک آواز میں کہا،
“Codes are dangerous,,,”
وہ کرسی سے ذرا پیچھے ہوا۔
اس کی آنکھوں میں اب جنون سا اتر آیا تھا۔
