کہانی کا آغاز سیالکوٹ کی ایک دلکش، پرسکون صبح سے ہوتا ہے جہاں زیوا اپنے والد اصغر چوہدری اور دو بھائیوں (عبدالہادی اور حشام) کے ساتھ ایک محبت سے بھرپور گھرانے میں رہ رہی ہے۔ زیوا کی والدہ کا انتقال بچپن میں ہی ہو چکا تھا، مگر اس کے والد اور بھائیوں نے کبھی اسے ماں کی کمی محسوس نہیں ہونے دی۔ زیوا کو شرعی پردے (حجاب) کا بے حد شوق ہے جس پر اس کے والد کو اس پر فخر ہے۔
کرداروں کا تعارف:
زیوا اصغر: کہانی کی مرکزی کردار۔ ایک معصوم، باحجاب، پردہ دار اور خاندانی اقدار سے محبت کرنے والی یونیورسٹی کی طالبہ۔ والدہ کے بغیر پلی بڑھی زیوا اپنے والد اور بھائیوں کی لاڈلی ہے۔
اصغر چوہدری (اصغر علی صاحب): زیوا، عبدالہادی اور حشام (ہاشم) کے والد۔ اٹلی میں کام کرنے والے ایک متوسط، نرم دل، بااصصول اور اصول پسند انسان، جن کی زندگی کا مقصد اپنے بچوں کا روشن مستقبل اور ان کی بہترین تربیت ہے۔
عبدالہادی: زیوا کا بڑا بھائی۔ ایک ذمہ دار، باشعور اور سنجیدہ نوجوان جو والد کی وفات کے بعد گھر کے لیے باپ کی طرح کا سہارا بن جاتا ہے۔

“آپ دونوں کا بس چلے تو مجھے ہر وقت چھیڑتے ہی رہیں۔”
“کیونکہ تمہارے بغیر یہ گھر بہت خاموش لگتا ہے۔” بڑے بھائی نے نرمی سے کہا۔
ایک لمحے کے لیے زیوا کے لبوں پر مسکراہٹ ٹھہر سی گئی۔ پھر اس نے دوبارہ خود کو سنبھالا اور مسکرا دی۔
اسے نہیں معلوم تھا کہ کچھ لوگوں کی زندگیوں میں خاموشیاں آہستہ آہستہ آتی ہیں… اور جب آتی ہیں تو بہت کچھ بدل کر رکھ دیتی ہیں۔
“آج یونیورسٹی نہیں جانا کیا؟” اچانک اسغر چوہدری کی آواز پر زیوا نے چونک کر سر اٹھایا۔
“اوہ بابا!” وہ مسکراتے ہوئے اپنی جگہ سے اٹھی اور جا کر ان کے گلے لگ گئی۔ “آپ بھی ناں، ڈرا ہی دیتے ہیں۔”
اسغر چوہدری بے اختیار مسکرا دیے۔ زیوا ان کی جان تھی، شاید اسی لیے اس کی ایک مسکراہٹ بھی ان کے دن کو خوبصورت بنا دیتی تھی۔
“میں نے کب ڈرایا؟ میں تو صرف اپنی شہزادی سے پوچھ رہا تھا کہ یونیورسٹی جانے کا ارادہ ہے یا آج بھی چھٹی منانی ہے؟”
“جی نہیں، آج تو جانا ہے۔” اس نے شرارتی انداز میں کہا۔
“ہماری میڈم کو یونیورسٹی سے بڑی محبت ہے۔” ہاشم نے چھیڑا۔
“اور ہمیں اپنی بہن سے۔” عبدالہادی نے مسکراتے ہوئے بات مکمل کی۔
زیوا بے اختیار ہنس پڑی۔
اس گھر میں ایک چیز بہت خوبصورت تھی… محبت۔
