Bidding farewell to Punjab, she embarks on a long journey through Rawalpindi and Mansehra, eventually reaching Dasu in Kohistan.

On her first morning in Kohistan, while taking a walk among the winding mountain lanes, Kinza notices an aesthetically pleasing house adorned with vibrant Bougainvillea flowers. There, she encounters Rayan Khan. Initial misunderstandings lead to witty banter, with Kinza dismissing him as a local idler. However, destiny continuously brings them together.

‘لہجے سے تو پنجاب کی لگتی ہو، تو پھر کون ہو؟’ سامنے بیٹھے شخص) نے کھوجتے ہوئے لہجے میں کہا۔
‘آپ کو اپنے کام سے کام رکھنا چاہیے۔ میرے خیال میں چاہے میں پنجاب سے ہوں یا سندھ سے، اس سے آپ کا کوئی لینا دینا نہیں!’سرد لہجے میں جواب دیتی وہ
بل دے کر وہ ڈھابے سے نکلی اور سیدھا گھر چلی آئی۔ گل خان آ چکا تھا۔ اسے آتے دیکھ کر اس نے سلام جھاڑا۔ ‘سلام! چلیں میڈم؟’
‘ہاں چلو، میں ابھی آئی۔’ وہ کچھ دیر میں واپس آئی اور فرنٹ سیٹ پر بیٹھ گئی۔ گل خان کو کار چلاتے ہوئے اسنے غور سے دیکھا۔ وہ 30 سے 35 سال کے درمیان کا مرد تھا، سفید رنگت، پھرتیلا، گھنی بھنویں اور آنکھیں جو اکثر جھکی رہتیں، اور بال ٹوپی میں چھپے ہوئے تھے۔
کچھ منٹ کے بعد گاڑی ایک بڑی عمارت کے سامنے رکی۔ یہ بھی پتھروں اور لکڑی کے آمیزے سے بنی ہوئی تھی۔ عمارت کے ماتھے پر بڑا بڑا لکھا تھا: ‘محکمہ جنگلات لکھا ہوا تھا۔
عمارت میں داخل ہوئی تو کاریڈور میں دونوں طرف آفس تھے۔ فوراً ہی کسی نے آواز دی، میڈم! کنزیٰ نے پلٹ کر دیکھا۔
آفس بوائے کھڑا تھا، “آپ کو بڑے صاحب نے بلایا ہے۔”
