یہ دنیا میں نے اُن لوگوں کے لیے تخلیق کی ہے جو ہجوم میں رہ کر بھی تنہائی محسوس کرتے ہیں، اور اُن کے لیے بھی جو اپنے اندر ایک ان دیکھی پیاس لیے پھرتے ہیں— معرفت کی پیاس، سکون کی تلاش۔

نیلوفر کے ہاتھ تھم گئے۔ اس نے ایک تلخ مسکراہٹ کے ساتھ بالوں کی لٹ پیچھے کی اور اپنے ہی عکس سے مخاطب ہوئی
“تم مجھ سے حسد کرتی ہو، ہے نا؟ کیونکہ آج پوری دنیا میرے قدموں میں ہے اور تم… تم صرف اس شیشے کی قید میں ہو جس کی کوئی اپنی مرضی نہیں۔”
“میں حسد نہیں، تمہارا نوحہ کر رہی ہوں،” عکس نے گویا بے رحمی سے جواب دیا۔ “یہ رنگ، یہ زیور، یہ مہنگا لباس… یہ سب تمہاری اس بدصورتی کو نہیں چھپا سکتے جو تم نے اس ‘نیلوفر’ کے نام کے پیچھے دفن کر رکھی ہے۔ کیا تمہیں ڈر نہیں لگتا کہ کسی دن یہ آئینہ سچ بول دے گا؟”
نیلوفر نے غصے سے رخ موڑ لیا، مگر اس کے اندر ایک لرزہ طاری تھا۔ وہ جانتی تھی کہ آئینہ کبھی جھوٹ نہیں بولتا۔

اس کا لباس فیشن کے ہر نئے زاویے کا عکاس تھا۔ ریشمی بالوں میں ہائی لائٹس، گہرے سرخ لب، اور برانڈڈ پہناوے—وہ ایک متحرک اشتہار لگتی تھی۔ مگر جیسے ہی وہ سٹوڈیو کی لائٹس سے دور ہوتی، اس کی بے چینی اسے ضحیٰ کی طرف کھینچ لاتی”
