اس تحریر میں ہر کردار اپنے اندر ایک کہانی رکھتا ہے۔ رخشندہ بی بی کی ممتا، عرشمان کی بےبسی، مرتضیٰ کا ٹوٹا ہوا وجود اور نیاز حیات کا غرور—یہ سب اس المیے کے مختلف رنگ ہیں۔

یہ محض ایک کہانی نہیں بلکہ ایک آئینہ ہے، جو ہمارے معاشرتی رویوں کو عیاں کرتا ہے۔ میں نے چاہا کہ پہلی ہی قسط میں قاری کو جشن اور ماتم کے ملاپ میں لے جاؤں، جہاں شادی کے چراغاں کے بیچ ایک لڑکی اپنی عزتِ نفس کے دفاع میں زہر کا جام پی کر سب کو خاموش کر دیتی ہے۔
نور کے کردار کے ذریعے میں نے دکھایا ہے کہ کبھی کبھی عورت کے پاس اپنی زندگی سے دستبردار ہونے کے سوا کوئی راستہ نہیں بچتا۔

نور نے ہاتھ میں پکڑی سفید محلول سے بھری چھوٹی سی شیشی کو منہ کے قریب لا کر صرف اتنا ہی کہا تھا:
“تھوڑی دیر اور، پھر بس۔۔۔”
شاید اسے اپنے باپ کی پگڑی سے زیادہ اپنی عزتِ نفس عزیز تھی۔
ہاتھ میں شیشی دبائے چند قدم چل کر دروازہ مکمل طور پر بند کیا۔ وہ جھکی اور ساتھ رکھی میز پر پڑے جگ سے پانی نکالا۔
تب ہی سفید محلول کو گلاس میں انڈیلا تو بیقوقت گلاس میں موجود پانی کا رنگ سمندر میں تیرتی لہروں کی طرح سرخ ہوتا چلا گیا۔
اس نے لرزتی نرم گلابی ہتھیلیوں سے گلاس کو مضبوطی سے تھاما اور زہر کا کڑوا گھونٹ بھر ہی لیا۔ گھٹ۔۔۔ گھٹ۔۔۔ اور پھر زہر اس کے حلق سے رگوں میں اترتا چلا گیا۔ اللہ ہی جانتا تھا کہ اس زہر کی رسائی کہاں تک تھی۔ اب کمرے میں موجود ہر چیز اسے کڑوی محسوس ہونے لگی۔
تھوڑی ہی دیر میں آنکھوں نے سرخی پکڑی اور زہر کی کڑواہٹ نے سانسوں کا راستہ بند کر دیا۔
وہ سنگ مرمر کے فرش پر آن گری۔
اس کے منہ سے ابلتے دودھ کی طرح زہر کی جھاگ رواں تھی۔
اچانک ساتھ رکھی میز پر اس کا فون بج اٹھا:
… ڈرن۔۔۔ ڈرن۔۔۔ ڈرن۔۔۔
اور پھر آہستہ آہستہ رنگ ٹون کی آواز اس کے کانوں سے اوجھل ہوتی چلی گئی۔
بےچینی بڑھتی گئی مگر دل کی دھڑکنیں مدھم ہونے لگیں۔
آنکھیں دھندلانے لگیں۔۔۔
سانسیں ٹوٹنے لگیں۔۔۔
جسم لرز گیا۔۔۔
دماغ سن ہوتا چلا گیا۔۔۔
اور پھر سب خاموش ہو گیا۔
