“میری ایک پرانی ڈائری نہيں مل رہی۔” ہاتھ میں پکڑی کتاب کو واپس شیلف میں رکھتے ہوئے وہ سرسری انداز میں بولا۔
اسے سنتے سمل نے گہری سانس اندر کھینچی اور چہرہ اٹھا کر لکڑی کے دیوار گیر شیلف کے اوپر رکھے چکور ڈبوں کو دیکھا۔
“آپ مجھے وہ کارٹن اتار کر دیں گے۔” اپنے ڈوپٹے کو کندھے سے گزار کر کمر پر گرہ باندھتے سمل نے کہا۔
صالح نے ناسمجھی سے پہلے اسے دیکھا۔ پھر اسکی نظروں کا تعاقب کر کے بڑے سے کارٹن کو دیکھا۔
“تمہيں کیا کام اس وقت اس کا۔” اسے جیسے سمل کی مداخلت اچھی نہيں لگی تھی۔ وہ جو ڈھونڈ رہا تھا خود ہی ڈھونڈنا چاہتا تھا۔
سمل نے اس کے لب و لہجے کو نظر انداز کرتے ہوئے خود ہی قریب رکھی کرسی اٹھائی اور اپنی مطلوبہ جگہ پر رکھ کر اوپر چڑھ گئی۔ جسے دیکھ کر صالح تصور ہی تصور ميں اپنا سر پیٹ کر رہ گیا۔ آیا کیا سوچ کر وہ اپنی پانچ فٹ چار انچ کی بیوی کو روکنے چلا تھا۔
اس نے خود ہی اپنے خیال پر تاسف سے سر نفی ميں ہلایا۔
“آپ کی ساری پرانی کتابیں، ڈائریز اور البمز وغیرہ شفٹنگ کے وقت اس کارٹن میں پیک کیے تھے جسے آج تک آپ نے کھولنے کی زحمت نہيں کی۔ میں اس میں ڈھونڈتی ہوں آپ کی ڈائری اور آپ اپنی تلاش جاری رکھیں۔”
وہ ایڑھیاں اوپر اٹھائے ڈبے کو اتارنے کی کوشش میں ہاتھ مارتے ہوئے بول رہی تھی۔ اور اسکی یہ کوشش دیکھ کر صالح بے اختیار سر جھکا کر دھیما سا مسکرا دیا۔
“تمہيں یقین ہے تم اتنا بڑا ڈبا اتار لو گی؟” سر اٹھا کر آنکھوں ميں چمک لیے اس نے سمل کو تنگ کرنا چاہا۔
“آپ جتنا وقت سوال جواب میں لگائے گے اتنی دیر میں’ ميں آپکی ڈائری بھی ڈھونڈ چکی ہوں گی۔” اس پر ایک جتاتی نگاہ ڈال کر کہا۔
“مطلب تم میرے کام میں ٹانگ لڑا کر ہی دم لو گی۔”
صالح نے کمر پر ہاتھ رکھ کر چہرہ اوپر اٹھائے سمل پر مسکراتی نظریں جمائے کہا تھا۔
کرسی پر کھڑی سمل نے بھی چہرہ جھکائے اپنی مسکراتی سنہری آنکھیں صالح کی سیاہ آنکھوں ميں گاڑھيں سر اثبات ميں ہلایا۔
“ظاہر ہے اب آپکو اکیلا بھی تو نہيں چھوڑ سکتی۔”
