“صحبت” مصنفہ زرِ حیات کا تحریر کردہ ایک انتہائی روح پرور، اصلاحی اور فکر انگیز اردو ناول ہے۔ کہانی کا بنیادی فلسفہ انسان کی زندگی پر اس کے دوستوں اور ماحول (صحبت) کے اثرات کے گرد گھومتا ہے۔ کہانی کا مرکز ام ہانی ہے، جو ایک عام سی لڑکی ہے لیکن اس کی زندگی میں زینب نامی ایک باحجاب لڑکی کا آنا اس کے فکر و عمل کو بدل کر رکھ دیتا ہے۔ زوئے کہانی کے ذریعے یہ دکھایا گیا ہے کہ کیسے ایک لڑکی کا مثبت قدم نہ صرف اس کی اپنی زندگی کو منور کرتا ہے بلکہ اس کے پورے خاندان اور محلے کو ہدایت کے راستے پر لے آتا ہے۔

“کیوں اس میں ہنسنے کی کیا بات ہے وہ لڑکی پردہ کرتی ہو گی اس لیے خود کو کور کیا ہو گا “
“ارے ایسا بھی کیا پردہ کہ بندہ کالا کوا ہی بن جائے”
“ماریہ ایسے نہیں بولتے ہر کوئی اپنی مرضی کے مطابق عمل کرتا ہے اگر ہم پردہ نہیں کرتے تو اس کا یہ مطلب نہیں ہے کہ ہم پردہ کرنے والوں کا مذاق اڑائیں “
“اچھا ہانی بس اب تم لیکچر مت شروع کر دینا”
“آ جائیں ہانی اور ماریہ کھانا کھا لیں” ہانی کی امی نے ان دونوں کو اپنی طرف متوجہ کیا تو دونوں کھانا کھانے لگ گئی
