شاید اُنہیں احساس ہونے لگا تھا کہ اولاد میں فرق کرنے کی اُن کی برسوں پرانی غلطی نے آج اُن کے سامنے زندگی کا سب سے بڑا سبق لا کھڑا کیا ہے۔
جس بیٹی کو اُنہوں نے کبھی پیار نہیں ، آج وہی اُن کا سہارا تھی۔
اور جن بیٹوں کے لیے اُنہوں نے اپنی پوری زندگی قربان کردی تھی، اُن کی عالیشان عمارت میں اُس ماں کے لیے جگہ تک نہیں تھی۔
نمیرہ کمرے میں باہر سے آئی ہوئی پتیاں، گرد و غبار اور مٹی صاف کر رہی تھی۔ زبیدہ امّاں کچھ دیر خاموشی سے اُسے دیکھتی رہیں، پھر بے اختیار بول اٹھیں:
“بیٹا! کیوں اپنے آپ کو ہلکان کرتی ہو میرے پیچھے؟ مجھ بوڑھی کے لیے اتنی مشقت نہ کیا کرو۔ جاؤ اپنے گھر… ولید دفتر سے آگیا ہوگا۔”
نمیرہ نے ہاتھ میں پکڑا کپڑا ایک طرف رکھا اور مسکراتے ہوئے ماں کی طرف دیکھا۔
“امّاں! آپ کیوں پریشان ہوتی ہیں؟ یہ تو میرا فرض ہے۔ بیٹی ہوں میں آپ کی۔”
پھر ذرا توقف کے بعد بولی:
”اور ہاں، ولید کو پتا ہے کہ میں یہاں ہوں۔ وہ آج گھر پر ہی ہیں۔ ممانی کی طبیعت کچھ ناساز تھی، اس لیے وہ دفتر سے چھٹی پر ہیں۔ بلکہ مجھے تو اُنہوں نے ہی آپ کے پاس جانے کے لیے کہا تھا۔”
وہ بڑے اطمینان سے ماں کو ساری تفصیل بتا رہی تھی۔

ناول “رشتوں کا قرض” مصنفہ کائنات کی ایک انتہائی جذباتی اور سبق آموز کہانی ہے جو خاندانی رشتوں، ماں کی قربانیوں اور اولاد کی بے اعتنائی کے گرد گھومتی ہے۔ کہانی کا مرکزی کردار زبیدہ امّاں ہیں جنہوں نے شوہر کے انتقال کے بعد اکیلے اپنے تین بیٹوں کو پالا۔ بیٹوں کی محبت میں وہ اس حد تک اندھی ہو گئیں کہ انہوں نے اپنی اکلوتی بیٹی “نمیرہ” کو ہمیشہ نظر انداز کیا اور اسے وہ محبت نہ دی جس کی وہ حق دار تھی۔
وقت بدلتا ہے، بیٹے پڑھ لکھ کر کامیاب ہو جاتے ہیں اور عالیشان گھروں میں بسنے کے بعد اس ماں کو ایک پرانے مکان میں بے یار و مددگار چھوڑ دیتے ہیں۔ لیکن جس بیٹی کو زبیدہ امّاں نے کبھی پیار نہیں دیا، آج وہی بیٹی اُن کے بڑھاپے کا واحد سہارا بنتی ہے۔ نمیرہ روزانہ ماں کی دیکھ بھال کرتی ہے۔ کہانی میں اس وقت ایک خوبصورت موڑ آتا ہے جب نمیرہ اپنے بڑے بھائی اسد سے ملتی ہے، جو اپنی غفلت پر شدید پچھتاوے میں مبتلا ہو جاتا ہے۔ اسد کو اپنی غلطی کا احساس ہوتا ہے اور وہ اپنی ماں اور بہن کے پاس واپس لوٹ کر خاندانی رشتوں کو دوبارہ جوڑنے کا عزم کرتا ہے۔ یہ ناول ہمیں سکھاتا ہے کہ رشتے خلوص اور احساس سے جڑتے ہیں، غفلت سے نہیں۔
